Radovan Hojs

I was born on 20th of July 1959 in Maribor, Slovenia. In 1984 I finished Medical Faculty at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 1990 I finished specialization of Internal medicine and in 2012 I received specialization of Nephrology. In 1996 I received Ph.D. degree (field: internal medicine – nephrology) at Medical Faculty University of Ljubljana. In 2001 I finished postgraduate study Management in health system (GEA College, Slovenia).
Since May 1986 I have been working at University Medical Centre Maribor, from 1998 to 1999 I was Head of Department of Nephrology, from 1999 until now I’m Head of Clinic of Internal medicine. From 2007 I am Full Professor of Internal medicine at Faculty of Medicine, University of Maribor. Since 2003 I am vice-dean for education at Faculty of Medicine University in Maribor.
I am author/co-author of several publications published in international journals (PubMed). I have been also reviewer for many important journals (Circulation, American Journal of Kidney Diseases, American Journal of Nephrology, Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation, European Journal of Internal Medicine, etc.). I was in editorial board of Zdravniški Vestnik (published by the Slovenian Medical Association) and I’m editor in Acta medico-biotechnica (published by Medical Faculty University of Maribor), from 2011 I’m associate editor of European Journal of Internal Medicine and from 2013 Section editor for Internal medicine of European Journal of Medical Research. From 2013 I am board member of scientific working group by ERA-EDTA (European Renal Association - European Dialysis and Transplant Association).
Since 1993 I have been member of the organizing committee of yearly medical meetings held in Maribor, since 1995 I am the president of organizing committee. Together with my colleagues many teaching courses for residents of internal medicine and GPs have been organized.
I was member of different professional bodies at Ministry of Health and at Medical Chamber of Republic Slovenia.
