Eleni Boutati

Eleni I. Boutati, MD, is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine/Diabetes Mellitus/Infectious diseases in the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Medical School of Athens University.
In 1984 she earned a medical degree form the Athens University Medical School. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency training at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Medical School of Athens University.
In 1993 she received her doctoral degree from the Athens University. From 1993-6 she had had a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Medical Specialties-Infectious Diseases, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA. She has been appointed Medical Director at SmithKline Beecham and at Novartis (Hellas), headed the Medical Affairs & Pharmacovigilance department, being part of the local Executive Committee and the European board of Medical Directors.
In 2001 she was elected Lecturer in Medical School, Athens University, in 2006 tenured Assistant Professor, in 2010 Assistant Professor, and in 2012 Associate Professor of Internal Medicine/Diabetes Mellitus. She has been co/investigator in several international clinical trials, has co/organized and participated in numerous national and international symposia/congresses/lectures in Internal Medicine/Diabetes Mellitus/Infectious Diseases. Her core interests include both clinical involvement in the field of Internal Medicine, Diabetes & Infectious Diseases, and her research activities focus on infectious diseases/inflammation/diabetes.
